Designed by the architects Ludovica + Roberto Palomba, based in Milan, in 2011 the Birdie series has become one of the most desirable pieces of the Italian firm Foscarini. After the success in their characteristic colors – white, grey, Orange and amaranth, now arrive two exquisite models with structure and lacquered steel base in copper and black chrome.
The thin stem of Birdie, as if it were a trunk, widens and leads to a reinterpretation of the classic lamp shade, as a leafy crown. In its single branch, it could well settle a small bird. The lamp takes its name and its creative inspiration from this. However, the branch gives shelter actually a touch switch, which allows you to create a diffuse, directed or strong light.
“Birdie is based on the concept: light in nature.” Light is sweet and gentle, something that accompanies us and which is useful in our lives. Therefore, the aesthetic combines with functionality, a conjunction that we wanted to translate into Birdie”, according to its creators, Ludovica + Roberto Palomba, internationally recognized.
It is not trivial that Birdie is monochromatic. In fact, this clean design of Foscarini seeks to represent the continuity between the elements of nature. Birdie Metal version in copper is autumnal stroll towards the glow of Christmas; it will shine in warm interiors and cutting-edge. The lacquered in black chrome is more classic and masculine, perfect for spaces with a contemporary and refined decoration.
You only will find Birdie Metal in two sizes up to end of the year in the showcase of Biosca&Botey. In the exhibition you can see the finishes of the large table lamp, which has a base of 25 cm and a height of 70 cm; and the small one which has a base of 17 cm and height of 49 cm.
