Aella, first created in 1968, remains one of the icons of the Leucos lighting brand. For the brand, this indoor luminaire represents its vision to bring a fresher, more contemporary take on traditional hand-blown glass techniques.
Designed by Toso & Massari, each Aella is handcrafted by a master in the Veneto region of Italy. Producing a stunning cone of frozen glass in its diffuser, as if by magic, each time it is switched on, the light seems to float inside this glass, beautifully illuminating the space.
Curiously, it is inspired by the ancient Greek word for ‘whirlwind’ as well as being the first Amazon warrior princess bold enough to charge Heracles.
Today, it has been updated by the designers to include integrated LED technology for improved energy saving, table and pendant versions, as well as different size, shape and colour profiles.
