BioscaBotey retrieves for his new showcase one of his most identifying brands ever: CATELLANI&SMITH. The Italian brand proposes the exposure of a set of luminaries of the most representative of its current catalog. To this end, from the POSTKRISI series, we presented the model of suspension and desktop; from the LEDERAM family, the standing and application versions, alongside his magnificent CICLOITALIA, LIGHT AM, his finest foot, and one of his most iconic luminaries: the SCHU-MOON. Closing the montage with its new drum-portable jewel, the GIULIETTA survivor. In BioscaBotey we are pleased to re-emerge with CATELLANI&SMITH, a signature that does not follow schemes or conventions, only serves the purity of ideas and inspiration. His workshop is a space in which each element is scrupulously studied to give further impetus to creativity. They cover life like this, in total freedom, eddies from luminous sources that then place themselves in a new and bold structure to form games and effects that exceed expectations. This whole process is done solely by craft hands, and guided by creative minds: vision and action are founded, and make light materialize and can be modelled at will.
“When I believe a new light, my starting point is the prototype. My atelier is my workshop, and there I continuously accumulate materials, pieces and objects of different kinds. And that’s where everything is born… armo, pay, fold, I shape… I need to hear the materials, see how they play with light.” Enzo Catellani.
En BioscaBotey inaugurated a showcase with very domesticated and styled pieces. We look at its suspension SCHU-MOON and the spectacularity of the interior of its bell, which houses an irregular golden lamina reminiscent of a lunar relief. Stchu-Moon separates the light source from the illuminated object, thus acquiring an independent aesthetic value. Here the refraction of light faces deliberately irregular surfaces that multiply it and make the object itself all light. In the first line, we find the black-based, black-based CICLOITALIA and brass structure; a luminary that represents the evolution of its Cyclicin, the historic 1989 light bulb. Artisanally handmade, it is erected as an untemporary icon of CatellanithSmith yesterday and today. The set LEDERAM, standing and in the dual-disc application version, offers us an indirect reflex lighting, in which case it acquires the gilt key of its second disc. The piece allows you to orient light to get the halo and the desired reflection. Their LED plan module makes it easier to think and move the curved and smooth disk freely. The particularity of the standing version is the angle of its axis on its base, tilted, giving the disk the possibility of angle opening to slew light or keep it indirect to wall. Its LIGHT STIK represents the minimal expression of indirect warm light, a light that emerges from the narrowest and finest vertical structure of the market. Subtyl and precise as few, this version is liked by its lighter and more “minimal” look. On the other hand, special mention for the set of POSTKRISI; Enzo Catellani designs these spheres, with glass fiber. This material fascinates him for his incredible versatility and resistance, but especially for the shadow game he creates once he is in contact with light. Its central partition evokes a hole, a natural organic separation through which lighting flows, generating a reflection of light with a fascinating outline. CatellaniSSmith’s last exposed piece is his new model of the GIULIETTA desktop, a luminary that incorporates battery and is portable, so fits into any environment. It just turns on touching it with one hand and has three different light intensities. Giulietta consists of a thin rod—which arises from a circular base—and a circle that graviates around it, apparently without any support.Facts of light with sensitivity and singularity, now and always, with CATELLANI&SMITH in BioscaBotey.
